Getting to know Taghazout
Taghazout is a small coastal village north of Agadir that has become one of Morocco's best-known surf destinations. Travelers come for its surf breaks, beaches, cafés, seafood and relaxed seaside atmosphere.
What was once a modest fishing settlement has grown into a hub for surfers of all levels, with the village itself now built largely around that identity — surf camps, board rental shops and rooftop cafés line the main street down to the water. The coastline here is dotted with distinct breaks, from the beginner-friendly waves near the village center to faster, more powerful points along the rocky stretches nearby, drawing a mix of first-timers and experienced surfers depending on the spot. Beyond the waves, the area has become a base for a wider wellness and digital-nomad crowd, with yoga retreats and longer-term stays now common. Its position just north of Agadir also puts several other well-known surf towns within easy reach for day trips.
